Hey guys. About 8 months ago, I caught a disaster before it became much much worse, and I haven't had the time to get everything put back together. My oil pump failed, but I caught it before it did a whole lot of damage
. It ended up wearing the bearings down to the copper but I'm pretty sure it never completely lost oil pressure. The crank has some visual blemishes, but feels pretty damn smooth given the circumstances (save for the little bit of metal transfer from the bearing failure).
As a few of you know, I'm no n00b to building motors, but I've never had this happen on a Honda motor....so I'm not sure what direction to take.
Here is my question. Has anyone had any luck having such blemishes polished out? I've been told that Honda cranks are pretty much throw away once they have the slightest damage, but I just want a second opinion. I know that they aren't forged all the way through, so there is no way to turn them (which I wouldn't even think of doing anyways).
I've been having trouble finding a good GSR crank for a somewhat decent price locally, which is why I was hoping this might be an option.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Without a picture, it is hard to give you a solid answer. I would take it to a legitimate machine shop and see what they think. They may be able to micropolish it and return it to like new condition.
