p06 vs p28?
Does anyone know if there is any differance in using a chipped p06 or p28? The reason I am asking is I dropped of a p28 to a local shop to get chipped. About a week later they said it was done and I owed him $200!! So after I picked it up on the ride home I noticed it was a p06??? I called him right back and he said they are all the same we just used yours as a core. Also I get home and put it in and it doesnt rev over 2000 and starts breaking up real bad, and the check engine light is flashing 2 1. Does anyone know what that codes is?
my brother had chipped his p06 to p28 configuring. but if i were you, core or no core, that is YOUR p28. i would go get it back and ask them to chip that one instead. and since your p06 ecu is acting funny. let them know asap.
P06 ECU is the non-Vtec OBD1 Civic ECU, and P28 is the Vtec version. A P06 can easily be modified to do Vtec just like a P28, but the person doing the mods needs to know what they are doing. A code 21 is the Vtec solenoid valve fault code, so if your car is Vtec, then you have a problem. Either they didn't do the Vtec mod to the P06, or they did and there's some sort of problem with their work. This assumes that your Vtec was working properly to begin with while using your previous P28.
If it won't rev past 2,000, there's definitely something funky going on. Either the chip is really wrong for your setup, or there's something altogether wrong with the arrangement. I'd definitely take it back and get them to sort this out.
