anyone know upholstery?
Hey All,
Are there any peeps here who do, or know about auto upholstery? I am trying to find out about using a steam gun to remove wrinkles from vinyl. IE: I reupholstered my car, and there are some fawkups.
Just tryin to figure out just how much the steam will do. I think the wrinkes are too bad for steam, but thats just guessing. I also have no clue on where to rent a gun, all the rental places only have steam guns for cleaning purposes...
Anyone?

well,
I called a few places around here in MN. Only one seemed to know what they were talking about. I was told that the steam is like a last resort. A lot of times u can actually ruin the vinyl with it. It also doesnt remove any decent sized wrinkles.
FYI - for anyone planning on doing this:
DO NOT get the vinyl with the foam already on the back of it. It is a little more expensive to buy the closed cell foam and vinyl seperate, but it makes the whole process much easier. Why? Cause when they are seperate you are able to first put down the foam, cutting and trimming as needed. Then the vinyl that is applied over the foam is much much much easier to stretch when there isnt any foam attached to the back.
