wouldn't matter the cx gets the same gas mileage, and that's the closest obd1 motor to match the HF. just a well taken care of the motor, tire pressure and adjusting the nut between the gas pedal and driver seat dictates how much gas you are going to consume. I have a 2k camaro ss and get 27 mpg and my father gets 18 mpg. My crx i get around 34 (DX with Si motor/trans).

you should rebuild it, then stick a Air/Fuel gauge and SAFC on there and go to tuning that bad boy down. I know someone with a 2000 Prelude SH that's getting 40MPG when driving easy thanks to the VAFC.

50+ would probably require tuning, weight reduction and distribution, and trial and error. some things I would start with is relocating your battery and having plenty of tire pressure and a thorough tune-up. certain types of spark plugs/wires/oil/ etc may effect it a little also.

Do some research on HHO gas fueled cars. I have an friend in upstate NY getting 60 MPG average from a 92 Caravan. The HHO systems work better with the older efi systems anyways. I bought an 88 EF sedan and that is what I'm going to do with that car. My thoughts are: 92 Caravan average mileage 18-20; Caravan on HHO= ave. 60 MPG; 88 EF ave. 35 MPG; 88 EF on HHO gas=100 MPG. I don't know for sure that is purely speculation. I am going to be gathering the equipment to make the system and installing it when I figure out why the Civic is not getting spark.
