DC2: Replacing the Stock Antenna with a Metra Hidden Antenna Model 44-UA20
I just ordered the Metra 44-UA20 amplified hidden antenna. I consulted wrx-killer-Sti-eater and BlueIntegraBoy who mounted it at the bottom of the and top of the windshield, respectively. Both vouch for the reception.
I think that I am going to try to mount this at the top of the rear hatch glass. The connections for the antenna and power wire already exist at the stock antenna location. Afterwards, I am going to get an antenna plug to seal the hole.

I will provide a write-up when I complete this. Does anyone have experience with this antenna?

You would need to get an antenna cable extension piece in order for the Metra plug to reach your radio. The Metra and OEM plugs are both male.

I too have this antenna. I had it mounted on my headliner close to the hatch. Reception was good for a stealth antenna...way better then the s2000 style ones. It even picks up AM channels... not as clear but picking it up suprised me. I'm planning on putting it under my headliner now to make it even a cleaner install.
I have the same antenna mounted in the A pillar on the passenger side on both my ITR and my LS. I picked the A pillar as the mounting location so that its nice and clean, nothing showing (which is why I shaved off my antenna on my ITR anyways). Works alright, but I just picked up a splitter and plan on picking up another one for my ITR to get better reception.

I wonder if your location is not adversely affecting the reception. The antenna cannot be shielded by the metal body. I plan to connect to the stock antenna wiring in the rear and mount it on the hatch glass unobstructed by metal.

I have the Metra Electronics 44-UA20 amplified antenna on my Integra. Its mounted on the rear windshield, upper drivers side corner. I had to notch the C-pillar plastic cover slightly to accomodate for the antenna wire on the antenna block. It works perfectly. I get the same quality reception as I would with the OEM antenna assembly.
I preferred this over the 44-UA200 simply because I didn't like the length of the antenna "ears". I've installed the UA200 model in a few cars without any complaints or reduction in reception.

Not exactly. The antenna on a 98-up Integra Sedan is embedded in the rear window glass itself. Then a feeder wire attaches to the glass to send a signal to the stereo.
So you cant go with a 98-up antenna setup without replacing the whole rear glass windshield. Thats why I opted to use an interior amplified antenna after shaving my antenna hole flush with the quarter panel of the car.

I picked up an outer antenna, like stock but no motor. $5.xx at Salvo Auto Parts.
