Default d16y8 wiring harness question

The last week I've been swapping in a new d16y8 for my old blown one in my 1996 civic turbo. I am running a chipped p28 with an obd2 conversion harness.

Now I think the new motor I have is obd2b whereas my old was obd2a. I notice that the complete uncut wiring harness that came with the new engine is missing some plugs my old one had. Will this affect the way the car runs or will I have to make some changes to the harness or swap the old one back in?

TIA

If the wiring harness is OBD-IIa and your motor is OBD-IIb (or vice versa), the injectors won't match the injector plugs and the distributor won't match the distributor plug.

If they match, then they're obviously the same (both OBD-IIa or both OBD-IIb) and it'll work fine with your chipped P28.

Though you care to take pictures of the plugs? I'm not aware of any sensors the OBD-IIa D16Y8's had that the OBD-IIb D16Y8's didn't, or vice versa.

Oh, it seems I didn't read it thoroughly enough, you know for a fact the new engine is OBD-IIb, and it came with an OBD-IIb harness?

If that's the case, you should only have to swap out the engine harnesses. Unless I'm missing something (and I'm pretty sure that I am).

appreciate the quick response!

Well...I was just looking over some info and I stumbled across the difference in dizzy plugs info, and I matched up the old dizzy to the new motor and they fit....

I also found two peripheral plugs that had been cut...

Will soldering in the plugs onto the new harness be an option? (Never soldered a wiring harness before)
