I don't feel/hear VTEC
When my car was stock, people told me that once I replaced my I/H/E I would notice VTEC engaging.
I got an AEM short ram, DC 4-2-1 header, Skunk2 test pipe, and APEXi WS2 exhaust. I still don't hear or feel VTEC kick in at 4400 or the secondary kick.
I did the Intake first and noticed a different sound/feel to my car, but not really any VTEC.
My WS2 definitely sounds different/better than stock, but haven't noticed anything performance-wise.

do you have oil pressure? running temp can cause vtec not engage, the vtec solenoid has a screen in it that tends to get clogged, and dumb question but i have heard it before...is it vtec?

Yeah it's the original ECU. No CEL or anything.

My car is a GSR so yes B18C1 with VTEC, and I was up to running temp at the time. I believe I have oil pressure. If that screen is clogged will it cause VTEC not to engage? My car has 152,xxx so that could possibly be clogged to ****.

Yeah, that's what I've been told in the past about the IM on the B18C1, but I was hoping after some mods I'd hear it rip. Can't really complain though, it still pulls as hard as I want it to.

as long as your car pulls hard then its working.. you can tell when its not cracking, car feels like it has no power after the RPM crossover.

well if he never had v-tec to begin with he would have nothing to compare it to now would he?
it really sounds like you should get this checked out, if you have no v-tec thats not really a problem its the the reason you have no v-tec that you should be worryed about

I agree, because I have definitely gone over 7000 RPM.

I have had my GSR for 5 years, and it was definitely more pronounced audibly when I changed the intake. I still hear it change tones when I rev it up. I wouldn't say that I got mads vtack yoo in third or something, I feel pretty linear power all the way through, and I am untuned. I have done the basics plus cams and it pulls very nicely.

Let me ask you this question: at what RPM does the VTEC engage? At what RPM does the intake sound become loud?

I notice at around 4400rpms it gets a little more audible, and at about 5900rpms I hear the second runners open. I am pretty familiar with my car.

I am still running the stock intake manifold so there is there is what appears to be two different sounds of vtec being engaged, when in actuality it is just the secondary butterflies opening up.

You passed the test.
I have J00 ITR cams in my '97 with a 4800 RPM crossover and no intake resonator. The sound is still subtle on that car due to the IAB. The transition is glass smooth.
