I pulled the stock chip out and it says something like 256 on the board instead of the normal 27256 that you would find on integras and civics... can someone PLEASE help and maybe explain?

 

No you cannot chip a Honda Accord ECU like you can an OBD1 92-95 Civic & Integra ECU. Doesn't matter what ROM Chip it has on it.

Only a few select type of obd1 92-95 honda/acura engine computers are chipable to use with popular engine management softwares.
USDM Vtec: P28, P72, P61 JDM Vtec: p30, p72, p08, p27, pr3, p91
USDM Non-Vtec: P75, PR4, P05, P06
Some obd0 honda/acura ecus are chipable but these ecus are not compatible with nicer eprom editors, hence we do not support obd0 ecus.
Obd1 ecus will plug & play into 92-95 honda/acuras, while pre-92 & 96-01 vehicles will require a ecu plug conversion harness to use the ecu (sold separately).</TD></TR></TABLE>

 

Yes, you can chip them, but there's not much support for changing parameters.

I didn't want to lead him down that road. The only Accord ECU that I have seen any one bother to chip is the POA. And it really is a huge waste of time. It would be more advantagous to get yourself an ECU that has an abundance of support & a multitude of editable parameters that can be tuned. Vs an ECU with very little to no support and a few editable parameters.

Does it even have the capabilities to be tuned on a dyno? Or I guess a better question would be are there any tuners out there that would support tuning it on their dyno?

2lowteg, Why do you need to chip your Accord ECU to begin with?

 

It's not a waste of time if you're looking to get into it. I've done tunes for these and had the P0A/P0B/P0C/etc family datalogging with no trouble.

If you're not looking to get into it and instead just want a tunable system, convert to a Civic/Integra ECU. There's plenty of options available for those.

 

thank you for the reply, i am indeed wanting to get into it. i have chipped many obd1 and obd0 civic and integra ecus, but those are getting really hard to find and i have quite a few accord ecus and would like to see what i can do with it

 

Find a way to get on pgmfi. I'm no longer a moderator there so I can't help. I think I outlined some of the P0As info in an Accord/Prelude thread there. I definitely outlined a lot of P13 stuff.

By getting into it are you referring to the development of a ROM editor and helping to decipher the original binary code? Is there a beta ROM editor yet or is it still in development? I can chip and I know electronics some what but when it comes to code, binary and programming stuff I'm a noob for sure.

Developing for the platform, yes.

The only version of NepTune for OBD1 Hondas that I'll ever release to the public is the one that's already out.

 

the real question is if he were to get into chipping and tuning a civic or Integra ecu how would one put a p0a map on p28, p30 ecu?
