Does anyone know the part number for an OEM rear windshield wiper hole plug for a 96-00 hatch? I tried this rubber one:

It was clearly not meant for a 96-00 hatch. It was really difficult to get in and when it was in, it was not flush and looked ridiculous.
I know it exists because I've seen it on some cars, such as this one:


Anyways, any help would be appreciated.

Have you called you local dealership yet? Surely they would know. You wouldnt have to buy it from them but you could just get the part number from them

 

The plug/grommet wasn't made for the windshield wiper hole as far as I know.

 

I'm pretty sure it was but I could be wrong. Any1?

So far as i know there is no plug for that hole, EKs that didn't come with a rear wiper didn't have a hole at all, I know because i just added a rear wiper to my mother's '96 hatch like 3 weekends ago, it wasn't fun either. About all you can do it find something that fits the hole, if it was me i'd just leave the rear wiper though.

Well that makes sense, I didn't think there was an OEM plug meant for that purpose. But there is some kind of OEM plug that can be used for that and look original. I actually pmed the owner of that hatch I originally posted and he is currently trying to figure out where to get another plug too.

 

There is a plug for it. Had to get mine offline. I work at a Honda Dealership in Parts. American honda cannot get JDM parts. The plug kit comes with; metal plug, rubber gasket, and bolt/washer. When I got mine it came in a honda bag and I check the part number......NO GOOD, same with the antenna block off plates and radio block off plate. Real honda parts but you cannot get them through American Honda because they were never offered as Accessories in U.S.A.

 

What country used the plug? when i added the wiper to mom's hatch i had to drill the hole. The other stuff i would think you could get here. the same civic i put the wiper on came from the dealership with no radio, it had a block off plate for the stereo, antenna and front speakers. Car was built and sold in canada.

 

Well if it was built and SOLD to canada im going to have to say canada. My hatch was built in canada but sold in US.

Just looked in up in my part catalog and both the 99-00 civic dx,cx both came WITH rear wipers and radios, antennas, ext.

I just meant you say there is a plug kit but you can't get it in the US, i was just curious as to what country had the hole drilled in the hatch but didn't come with a wiper. Most canadian CXs have the rear wiper, some don't, all DXs do. Those that don't have the wiper have no hole in the hatch. This particular civic has a very unusual feature set. Its a '96 CX hatch, canadian built and sold in canada, it came with AC, power steering and an automatic transmission. But it did not have a radio or rear wiper.

 

There is a plug on the hatch in between the hinges that hold the hatch. It fits in nice and tight and sits pretty flush. Here is a pic of mine.

 

In my opinion, the rear wiper plug for an EK is ugly. Just get the whole thing shaved off.

Yeah, see I've heard that before too. That there is a plug with a bolt...Which would make more sense because if you just plug it up wouldn't that be a potential security hazard? A thief can pop off the plastic plug and stick something in there to unlock the hatch? I can't say for sure off of memory if that's possible or not...without taking a look at the hatch...but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

 

its easier for someone to break into your car through your door/window then by popping the plug off your hatch.

because i locked my keys in my car at work once and got in with a butter knife hahahaa

Haha, yeah...but how do you know that MY car is easy to get in through the doors...Our cars are easy to get into in stock form, for sure.
