Default 05 rsx-s

Im looking into possibly getting into an 05 rsx type s. Wanted to see what owners would say about this model. This will be my daily and would stay stock. Comforatability, mpg (greatest concern), power, suspension, etc. Any input would be appreciated thanks fellas

Sorry to come off like this.but this is my true story*deep breath* the rsx is a seriou serious piece of s*#t. I bought mine brand new(05 type s) and i so regret it.

1.My gear box was grinding at 500 miles. The transmission died at 46k luckily right before my warranty ended so i got it replaced for free because of the many complains that I made about it all of which were in the dealers records. But guess what the third gear grinds again.

2.On to the next topic my drivers side window gets stuck half way 60% of the times if i want the window to go up all the way automatically.

3. Now a point that i didn't check until i had bought the car, so i guess this was bad on me. The car doesn't have a full double wishbone suspension. Which my brother(owner of a 88 crx) laughs at everytime we talk about the car.

4. The car has the most nimble body ever. you can't lean on it without being scared of denting it. it has a very poor crash test score. and i have two or three dents in my door caused by someone elses door.

5. my headlights were replaced twice because of moisture.

6. Blind spots like no other.

7.crappy moonroof or sunroof whatever it is it shakes like crazy when your opening it and the car is 3 years old.(of course my brothers crx which is 20 years old works fine other than a little rust)

8. i'll sell you mine for 13,000 as is.

I'm not going to go on with this. But in my opinion there are better cars out there. If you want mileage get a crx hf they get like 50 miles per gallon.

^ Yours could possibly be the one that got messed up in the assembly line. Ever thought about that?

My brother bought his brand new, and everything is still all in working order to this very day. There was not single complaint about the car, let alone the whole "3rd gear grind" myth. His car has about 35K miles and yet, he hasn't overcome any type of problem whatsoever. None.

Edit: To the OP, you can also check here at Yahoo! Autos. It's a place I'd look if ever I have any questions about a specific car.

1) There is a warranty and TSB for the ones that have issues. This tranny problem isn't nearly as bad as some of the trannys Honda put on their V6's.

2) This is a safety feature I have been told (with the automatic window). You should have taken it to the dealer if it was doing this all of the time.

3) Yeah, that is your fault for not checking. Unless you are tracking the car, then it is a moot point. For a daily driver...who cares?

4) All Hondas since 92-93 have been like this. They all dent if you look at them funny.

5) Not sure what to tell you.

6) You should have noticed this on the test drive.

7) Did you try cleaning and oiling the track? I have never heard of a problem with the sunroof on these cars.

8) No for sale posts

And...you speak about crash test standards, then you recommend getting a CRX? lol, best one I've heard in a while. A CRX is marginally safer than a bigwheel against a 5000lb SUV.

I own an 06 with 30k miles.

Best car I've ever owned... It's nice, comfortable, reliable.. peppy (compared to the alternatives)

The K20Z1 is a fantastic engine, and unless you drive like an *******, or a 5 year old girl you won't have any issues with the trannys.

The only complaint I have is the moisture in the lights, but it will be fixed for free by any Acura dealership..

Thumbs up from me.

i have an 02 type-s with 90K miles only prob i have ever had is when i blew my motor but that was my fault not Acura's

and if your only looking to get a daily driver and dont plan to mod it then why not just get a base model RSX?
but if you just want to own a type-s i say they are good nice cars and as long as you maintain the car properly it will run fine and last you a long time

I havent had any of these problems except the tranny is kinda wierd(grinds sometimes) to shift in at 2-3rd gear. Of course you can get this fixed under warrenty. I live in Washington, the rainy state, and havent had problems with moisture in my headlights.

I have an 02 type s with about 110k miles and it runs like new. Never had a single problem except for the gear grind but it was very minimal and i took it in and got the transmission fluid changed and havent heard it since. Some people also swear to putting lucas in their transmission fluid. I push the motor nearly everyday and run it hard. Great car all around. Be aware that your not buying just some gas saver, the type s is powerful machine. You mentioned MPG.... You do however need to run 93 octane in the type s. TOTALY worth it!

What kind of gas mileage are you guys getting on these things? How many miles will a full tank last? Im opting for a type-s because sometimes i know i will hate myself for not getting a type s later down the road. I appreciate all the feedback guys

I don't know if I'd go that far but when I had mine I certainly didn't think it was slow. I do miss the great gas mileage it got. I easily got low 30's on the highway.

Getting around 22 miles in the city low 30's on the highway. I get about 350 miles per tank on the highway i haven't really payed attention in the city. 91 octane only of course which isn't a big deal once you get use to it.

If you are going to buy one and your going to keep it stock you would be shotting yourself in the foot if you don't buy a Type s. Resale value is higher, also get an 05 or higher since it was revised and is better than the 04 and below.

Even though you can bolt on an lsd transmission from jdm type r on the 04 and below, but not on a 05 and above

nice cars but your better off buying an 06-08 Si

1. handles better then type S

2. got a limited slip diff STOCK

3. cheaper insurance

4. just as fast if not faster. (depending on driver)

Kind of agree but 05/06 RSX >>>> 06-08 Si in the looks department.

All I think of when I see those is...

For a daily, get the base since gas mileage is your greatest concern. Lower price and lower insurance. Even with an automatic, you will get better mileage than the Type-S. You can also get leather in the base if you wish. A well loaded certified used 2005 base will run you less than an 06 Civic (about 15K) For a daily driver any Honda is an excellent choice. There are few better in terms of reliability and longevity.

You might be right, a base might be a better option for me. I do like that torque arrives MUCH earlier in the base model. However, i don't want to regret or end up hating myself for not getting the S model. Does anyone have experience with both models that can chime in?
