Help me Trobleshoot: built ls/vtec wont stay running
EDIT: Found it. Map sensor pigtail wiring was loose
Hey guys looking for some insight on why my car wont stay running.
basic setup is 92 civic vx with built ls/vtec stocks sleeves. full-race kit w/ gt30r tuned with Neptune. tuned bu Jeff Evans and ran great until...
The other day i wired up my gauges and in a rush accidentally wired the power to a constant under the dash. everything worked fine but after letting it sit for 2 weeks the battery drained. jumped the car it and fired right up but only ran for about 2 minutes then bogged and died.
so i corrected my wiring and installed my wideband to better monitor things. car is in open loop so its not getting o2 feedback. got a new battery and the car will start with no problems. alternator charges 14 volts no problems. but it will not stay running. wideband reads a bit rich on cold idle (13.00 afr), vacuum is 22" and the car has 80psi oil pressure and 48psi fuel pressure
i highly doubt that a dead battery affected my tune, is that even possible?
plugs are pretty wet when the car shuts down leading me to believe its getting too much fuel
also on cold idle it idle surges a bit (which it has always done) but maybe its an IACV problem? or is it possible that coincidentally something like a tps or map sensor crapped out?
sorry for rambling, just looking for any ideas

try charging the battery on an external charger...
Since my latest tune my car does the exact same thing. If I turn my hid's or blower motor on - basically anything that is drawing a load my engine dies. Maybe there is something drawing alot of power and causing the altenator/electrical system to "kill the motor"
just a suggestion though - I'm no expert.

not enough timing at idle to "catch" it when the motor gets more load?

timing was not changed at all. do you think the tune could have been effected by the dead battery or by the new battery?
