Cutting a valve cover?
I love my dremel. Too bad it is working like **** (loose connection somewhere) and I lost my receipt.
NOTE: To anyone who plans on buying a dremel, tape your receipt to your dremel case. They have a 5 year warrenty (I thought it was one year and through it out
).

How do I tune (make adjustments) without having the valve cover on the car? Are you implying that everytime I make adjustments, I have to remove and put the covers back on? Or maybe you have a certain method you can recommend.
why dont you adjust them once and then keep them covered.dont cut the cover it looks better anyways and no one knows you have anything...
yeah basicly keep the cover on..this is what you do....tune the car a TDC on the cams and do a pull...and see waht you have..ok take the valve cover off and the plastic cover off too and do a adjustmint on it and put only the valve cover back on and do another pull and see what you get if you dont like it then take the cover off again and do another adjustment and look at what you get and if you like it take the valve cover off again and put the plastic back on and the valve cover..and now you have adjusted the cams and it looks stock..i know it sounds like a big pain in the *** but it looks better than have you timing belt showing and safer..im me if you want to Eg6civicsi92
yes i wouldn't cut the cover either cause i've seen cars where stuff actually flys in there and rips apart the timing belt. Then bye bye belt. What i did was buy an extra one from a junk yard only $40 dollars use that to tune and when it was done put back the original one and cover it up.

Very minimal chance, but it really depends on how you make your cut. Obviously, the moon cut is way better (you can barely stick a peice of paper in a moon cut gap). I know people that have used a completely exposed set-up for about 1 1/2 years, and through a winter as well...nothing happend. I probably wouldn't want to do this, however it did comfort me enough to cut a moon shape into the vavle cover.

I just run with no valve cover. I go through a lot of oil, but no biggie.
The reason I have not cut mine is because cam gears are illegal on an emmisions controlled vehicle, what they cant see they cant question, esspecially if it passes the sniffer test.
Hmmm,
no need to buy an extra valve cover that lets you reach the screws....
Just an old and dirty b16 cover from the junkyard... You can leave it under the hood as long you are within the tuning period and when everything is done, put the stock cover on....

I've had cam gears on cars before, but being in Cali, gotta keep that ish covered up so the coppers don't see it when they pull you over and tell you to open your hood.Best thing IMO is to get a friend with a chopped valve cover, tune with that and then put yours back on. I have an extra one that I'm going to cut once I get my cams and cam gears...

Picked up a GSR valve cover for 50 bux about 8 months ago. Jason used it to tune his car and now I have it sitting in my garage for when I do mine. Only time it'll be on my car is when I go to the dyno.

Hmm, maybe I should try that. That way I can save time on valve adjustments and not use up all my honda bond

Yup. Me = almost learned the hard way.
From now on, I'll just keep the uncut cover on there and change to uncut one at the dyno. Then back to uncut as soon as I'm off the rollers.
