Sound sounds like its coming from alternator. Whenever the engine is revved up or idling, a certain whine is coming from the alternator. Friends b16 teg doesnt do this.

Anyone think my alternator is going up. Its a b16 in a 1991 crx hf.

Another problem I have, is that i get a check engine light when i flip the head lights on after a while of running.

What is your code on the CEL? And is the whinning comming from the belt? IF so just tighten that sucka up.

 

If it sounds like a shrieking bat (especially when you switch the car on) tighten the belt. (Use a Helm's manual for the torque specs)

If its kinda quiet, just kinduva humming noise...it might need to be lubed.

 

I had the same problem and all i did was replace the belt... my friend also had that problem and all we had to do was tighten it up because the belt was lose...
