Is this strut a complete loss?
i was out changing my springs for new ones today, and all went well except for one pesky strut had to go and break on me (in actuality - I broke it
.)
Well this is what happened...
after compressing the spring and trying to get the nut off of the top of the strut - I seem to have broken the screw or whatever you call it... All of the other struts went along fine though with no problems.
Do I need a whole new strut now or is there a way to fix this?

i can't though the nut just spins along with the whole strut b/c i cant get anything inside the screw with a hole for the allen key thing in the top to hold it
is there any way to just replace the part of the strut that is broken (the top screw) without replacing the whole strut though?
If you grip the shaft of the shock with a pair of vice grips and are not extremely careful you will damage the shaft and in turn the seals and ruin the shock.
I am sure you could replace the shaft of the OEM shock but I don't think it would be worth it.
