Default S300 now VTEC sounds non existent?

I put in the S300 for my B16 motor and ran two different maps for the B16 and now my vtec sounds so quiet its almost non existent. Id like to think that Im hearing it, but damn I can barely tell. Is it engaging? who knows. When i put in the stock ECU, vtec screams and is very distinct. Does anyone know why??

Well the easiest way to tell if it is engaging is to put it low in the RPM range and take it for a test drive. It should fall pretty much flat on its face.

OR just hook up a LED to the vtec ouput pin from the ecu (A4) and make sure it is sending signal to it.

In most cases, if you have stock cams and vtec isn't very noticable, then the tuner did a decent job at finding the RPM to engage it. If you look at some of the NA forum's dynos, they allow vtec to engage at rediculously high RPM's, meaning the torque jumps 15-30lb/ft over 50 rpm's. THAT would be audible.

Ill play with it for a while and see if i can notice any changes in sound. It just made me think that vtec wasnt even engaging. There's no such thing as vtec partially engaged is there? I know that sounds dumb, but gotta ask.

usually when you cant hear or feel vtec it means that the tune is pretty good and the vtec crossover is most likely in the prime location in the powerband when the non-vtec powerband starts losing power
