Does anyone run 205/50 Azenis on a 15x6 wheel?
Does anyone run 205/50 Azenis on a 15x6 wheel? I have them on a 15x7 and they work great but I need to put them on stock size wheels so I can race in a stock autocross class.
i do, they fit fine.
I also run 225/45/15 kuhmo ecsta V700's on a 6" wheel for autocross, but those are stiff side-walled r-tires.

I had the same question for http://www.edgeracing.com has 15.6.5 rims and azenis tires for 640 mounted and balanced.. Anyone... is that a good idea or should i just get race compound tires??? for the person running 225's it that on a miata?? just wondering because i was temped to run 225 on my integra
falken doesnt make a 225 tire...
At any rate, to run 225's you'd need a 7" wheel (at minimum) to run street tires on them. A +38 would probably work in a 15x7, possibly a +45 depending on the car. Is it worth it? I dunno, but for the money the 205/50/15 azenis is a great deal for a track/summertime tire. However... they suck in the wet, i can guarantee you will get exactly zero snow/slush traction, they make lots of noise on the highway, arent very durable. The tradeoffs equal increidble grip for a street tire, even better for a street tire at that price.
For a daily driver car and your only set of tires, i'd probably go with the Kuhmo 712's, they are very reasonably priced too. For a set of summer/track tires, the wheels+tires for $640 is a killer deal and i will most likely order this up when my current set of falkens wears out.
Ryan - who does not have enough sets of wheels and tires already.... but cant pass up a deal like this

do you need 6" wheels for stock class autocross?
If you find lightweight/reasonably priced wheels that are 15x6 i'd love to know. The only lightweight 15x6'ers i've found are of the SSR/Volk variety (read: forged and very expensive).
I wish i had 15x6.5 wheels stock. Damn saturns...
An option i've considered is a set of miata wheels. They are 15x6, and some of them are very light (11lbs). You may need to enlarge the hub centering bore on the wheel though, should be a cheap/easy job for any machine shop.

YOu have to run what came with the car. So if you can find lightweight 15x6" within a 1/4" offset then that's fine.
But i know guys running 225/50x15" on Type R stock rims (15x6") and they work fine with spacers.

I would say even though the azenis are 205/55/15. I measured them next to my 205/40/17 kuhmo's, the falkens are more of a 225 than a 205 tread. I just got a set I don't rub but but I have a finger and a half wheel gap as well right now. Great Auto X tires and street tires. they get a little to hot and "greasy" On the lapping day I was at.
I've got them mounted on my stock ITR right now and I'm not sure if I'd recommend them for autocrossing on a stock car, especially on 6in wide wheels.
First, the tires are pinched and transitional response is somewhat slow. Not awful, but much less crisp than every other tire I've had on the R. Second, the heat range of the Azenis isn't that great. Overheat them and they get very greasy. That's much more of a problem on a stock class car, because the suspension is not setup to distribute weight more effectively across the car when turning. What happens is you really load up the front corners and overheat the front tires fast effectively ending your day in the middle of your second run.
Also worth noting. Since they stick so well you have to run ridiculously low rear pressures to get the car to rotate at all. On the ITR (which is not a car with a lot of understeer) I had to lower the rears to just above 24 psi. That's scarey low IMO, but the only way you can get the car to turn. YMMV, but I'd look at other possible tires for autocrossing in stock class if I were you.

Well...I don't consider the 02 Si a suspension slouch as a stock car. I alread have had huge sucess with these tires and all the STS guys run the same tire, so changing tires is not in my interest. I just want to make sure they fit without rubing, not weither or not I use them. Besides, I'll be in ST2 which is a street tire stock class so there really is not a better street tire to use.
Hey Rj, So should i get the deal or not, even if i sold the azenis tires, they are a nice deal for about 115 a rim. and they weigh 11 lbs, not bad at all. SO i guess its up to me to decied....
I would go for it. I will be buying this setup when my current set of azenis wears out - should happen soon as i bought them for the track. I was leaning toward the rota subzeros and falken tires for the next set, but this looks cheaper and they'll get dirtied up on the track anyways so i'll go with that
