Default Got bored, so I built a new welding cart

Now my Plasma Cutter and Mig share the same cart. There is an on board dry nitrogen supply for the plasma cutter, hooks to hang cables, leads, helmets, jackets, gloves. etc. There is a tool box underneath to contain small welding supplies, plus a shelf for wire and other bigger items. The bottle racks can handle up to a 300cf bottle. I will shortly run a junction box for both power cords to tie them into one power supply.

Sweet cart man. I thought it was powder coated at first, but then I noticed the overspray . What is the advantage of cutting with nitrogen (at least I assume that's what the red cylinder is filled with?) instead of compressed air. I tried to google it, but even the wiki failed me. Do you still need to filter out moisture from nitrogen out of the cylinder? What pressure do you use to cut stuff with and how long does the cylinder last? What's a refill price on nitrogen? The electrical junction box seems like a sweet idea, one less cord in the way to trip on.

The nitrogen is dry and clean, unlike shop air. In theory it will make the tips last longer. I happen to have the bottle laying around and had no other use for nitrogen. It is 50$ or so to fill it up. not sure how long it will last as I got the bottle half full and just started using it. I did put a standard quick connect on the dryer so I can use compressed air if I run out of nitrogen late at night. Just use the same pressure that you use for air. 35-40psi.

I would have had it powder coated but I wanted to be able to add stuff without having to have it powder coated again. With paint I can scuff it off and repaint as needed

Looks great and well thought out. Sure is nice having everything you need right there in front of you. But I would find pushing a cart with 2 tanks and 2 pieces of equipment plus everything else a pain in the ***. How heavy is the whole thing together? Otherwise looks great.

Figure the welder weighs about 75lbs, the plasma cutter weighs about 40lbs, the bottles weigh a couple of hundred, plus the misc. Its really not that bad. I used big casters so it would roll easily. Plus I am not pushing up hill or any distance.
