Installed A/C back into 1993 Del Sol S
So i bought this car a few months back as a daily driver, it was stripped down when i first got it and put a lot of labor into the car. The interior and engine has basically been completely stripped and put back together with countless hours and elbow grease.
Here are a few mods i've done to the engine so far.
D16z6 long block
stage 2 camshaft valve spring retailer
poly filled engine mounts
pm7/p29 dohc zc piston
ebay 4-2-1 header
ported oem intake manifold
integra LS throttle body
But anyways back to the a/c, i picked this car up with the a/c removed. Since its my daily driver i wouldn't mind having it blistering cold inside on my daily commutes and errands. So i've been on a hunt for another a/c system, finally i get a call from my friend. He got his hands on a complete a/c system out of a Del Sol with b16 engine. It so have happened that it was out of a 94+ delsol so it was already R134, i didn't need to convert or anything like that.
Gave me one hell of a deal so i pick it up right away. Lets just say i paid under $100 for the setup
, now since it came out of a Del Sol vtec and mine is a sohc del sol. I needed to get my hands on a D-series a/c bracket.
Here comes mother luck again, my friend's brother who lives down the street happened to have just removed the a/c bracket out of his sohc civic while doing a b-series swap. So i swing over there and decide to install everything.
He only had the a/c bracket without the pulley, but luck happened to strike again. A few years back one of our friends swapped a b16 into his crx and my friend happened to have kept the compressor/bracket from the sohc engine in his garage all these years. The bracket did not fit my d16z6 but the pulley on there fit the bracket i picked off the other guy.
Now i had everything i needed, until we finished everything and tried to put the original belt that came with the a/c system. Turns out the B-series belt is slightly longer and will not fit. But we had the belt from the d-series a/c setup so we were good to go.
Everything installed and tomorrow i'll be going to get my system vacuumed and charged.
Here is a picture of my engine bay before.

And now the pictures of the a/c install. Everything went on smoothly with a little tweaking of the lines but it didn't take up much time.
Feel free to ask questions if you have any.

Ha, usually here on H-T there's pple bitching about the extra weight and power loss that AC causes.
Good to see somebody actually using their head for once
