Default anyone swap shells?

i know this may sound like a stupid question, but im getting fed up with my ej1's body damage and paintjob that would cost more to fix and replace then its worth. so has anyone plain and simple bought another shell and just swapped out the parts? im thinking about switching to a hatch instead of a coupe, would the parts from the same years be interchangeable? if not what parts can and cannot be swapped?

I gotta learn the new chassis codes everyone is using now... ej1? eg or ek? Ill explain them both.
Almost everything for the eg. Literally almost everything... Front end, doors, and back bumper, Front seats,(back seats dont work), dash, everything from the front seats up basically. And for the EK 96-98 have the same front end, and the 99-00 have their own front end. It's the same on both hatches and coupes. front seats are interchangeable, everything in front of the front seats, except for the front end thing i mentioned. Back seats are again not interchangeable, and the back bumper, I'm not entirely sure, but I presume it's the same.

from both eg and ek, the motors will swap right in. hence everything in front of the 2 front seats are interchangeable. there might be a problem between obd2a and obd2b. like the ecu.
