Default GS-R DA9

wsup everybody, i just picked up a 97 GSR motor complete and dropped it into my 90 DA.

had an automatic bfore, and traded it with a gurl who had a 5spd!
(same car, color and RS model)

but i wanted to keep my:
interior
suspension
jdm headlights
speakers/deck
rims

learned how to drive stick and thought my gf how to too..
once it hit 200k i saved up enough money and did this swap.

Never felt vtec bfore and it fukin feels good!

i dont mind showing my licence plate bcuz its Alarmed, Garge kept with a dogg sleeping there

I dig it. I'm all about Red RS DA's (since I own one )

I kinda like the bezels around the gauges. Did it come like that when you bought it? or did you do it?

yeah man, i think you got screwed on the ecu, because a pr3 vtec ecu will not have a rev limiter set at 7200

im pretty sure whoever sold it to you got the better of you by selling you a "pr3" ecu when it was really an ls ecu, hope u didnt pay too much

yeah cant be an ls. once u got around the vtec engagement the ls ecu would go "wait wut the [freak] do i do now?" and it would go into safe mode

Yeah with a redline of 7k your car is going to be pretty slow, everytime you redline its gonna throw you down out of Lift and your cars not gonna be near as fast as it should be.

why do you insist that you need a pr3? You dont like the p72 ecu? you could just buy a jumper harness

I'm not sleeping in any DA. LOL

Your current ecu will not operate the IAB on the GSR engine.

you shift right after you hit lift? why? that defeats the purpose of such a wide lift area.

i bet you feel the pain that Celica GTS owners feel lol.

Just go to a shop, have them "chip" your ECU to that of a P72. While you're there get launch control

That is a thing of beauty. I'm thinking of doing the same swap myself... except I have to convert to manual, which is gonna suck hardcore. I know a lot of people are gonna tell me just get another DA, but with the money I'll spend on another car, I'd be able to do the swap and conversion. I just might sell my rims though.
