Default ** BOTI Sacramento - Technical Bulletin - All Racers Please Read **

Hello everyone, I just wanted to inform all you racers heading out to Sacramento this weekend for the Battle of the Imports event on a potential problem that may occur with the timing lights. The track timing system still works off of photo cells so in the afternoon sun (roughly 5 – 7 pm) there could be a possible reflection off the front rim triggering a false red light. Now, before everyone gets too crazy there is an easy fix. PLEASE take the time to put white shoe polish about 4 – 6 inches from the tire to the middle of your front rim on both sides to avoid this potential problem. Since I have been around when all the tracks had photo cells it was common place to do this as a safety precaution to avoid any problems. From what I understand BOTI will not entertain any re-run situations if this happens so get 'er done. Hope this little bit of experience helps and I look forward to seeing everyone this weekend!

Take care,

Scott Kelley

would this only affect cars with crome wheels, or would black wheels be affected also?

Big Whompin' slicks are exempt and black rims should be ok. It is the shiny "bling" rims that pose the biggest threat.

Like my daddy always told me ... "If it don't go fast, chrome it!"
