umm lol I drive my car on the streets, and lets just say go put your tires in a puddle of water, hold the ebrake, bring it up to 7k, and drop the clutch

Thats what its like with drag radials and 4th gear 80mph roll ons, its pointless. All it does is eat expensive drag radials in one night. That and the car overheats lol

But i can take a vid if u want

Sure, any big turbo is streetable. Just don't expect to put the power down once you get on it.

If your gonna spend the money to make that kind of power, plan on spending the same amount to double on controlling it..

Sure, it will drive like a stock Civic.... because thats all the power you'll have under 7k.

Only reason a big turbo like that wouldn't be streetable is if you have too much boost. A small spring and a good boost controller and it's plenty streetable. Most of the cars with those turbos make 450+ on the wg, which is just too much on the street. Put a 3psi spring in one and make your boost range something that's usable and there's no downside to a big turbo like that besides the fact that it can make double that amount of power.

its a lot more fun driving a 500+hp car with a smaller turbo..compared to running a 70-72mm turbo at 500hp.. the responsivness on the street is pretty shitty.

doing like 60-80mph brake boosting rolls is fun, but other than that it sucks..lol

thanks for the help guys, but need VIDs.

Tony and Joe... I plan to run a 42r on 35+ psi at the track, but when i street it for fun on my days off work, I was curious how responsive or miserable it would be on say.. 10psi through all gears? on a built 2L GSR and built P&P'd head

it's honestly not fun at all in my opinion!!! I hate driving my car on the street. Running a Liberty trans, twin disc, 18K rear/12Kfront suspension.... Makes for some not so good times on the street. IMO

FWIW my car will hold 8psi to 10.5k rpm with a full race manifold and twin 44's. and it doesnt make any power at 8psi lol

i think if you have to ask yourself how "miserable" will this be..... maybe you should change your plans

just like anything else with some time dialing in a good boost controller you could make it work....but its not going to hold any more power on the street than it would with a smaller powerband. the big turbo's just seem to come into boost so much harder it likes to light up the tires.

but again....a good boost controller can "fix" that

correct. I understand all this. But I wanna build a competitive sfwd car, make around 800 or more at for track days. 9s are the goal. But I know I will street it a fair amount and i still wanna have a somewhat fun car.

I guess I need to make two manifolds, one for the 42R and one for a T3 based turbo to swap on for the weekend street driving/? LoL

its not worth the risk of destroying a highly built up car like that on the street. anything can happen at any given moment, by driving that on the street, you would be just asking for problems, wether its with the law, your life, or lives of others. sorry to sound "like a mother" but i dont want to see a fellow racer hurt, fataly injured or possibly hurt/ fataly injure others.

i was involved in a pretty serious accident which i had no control over( i was sitting duck in the passenger seat) the driver lost control, we hit a pole while going sideways, needless to say. im pretty damn lucky to still be here today. i now have titanium rods in my legs, and i have pain every day of my life in my ankles/kness because of this.

my best friend was fataly injured in a 45mph head on collision. do you know how hard that is to live with ?

im sure many others have experianced similar situations.

build the car for the track, dont risk anything on the street. get yourself a beater for the street.

agreed. I sold my only car, which was my daily, a boosted 00 Si. I got a stock Si to drive daily now and have a racecar almost completed with a 42R, COP, 2L GSR, etcc setup coming. I still wanted to have it on the road for some pleasure drives as my stock 00 si is boring is to DEATH
