Default megan coilover question dc5

Just recently picked up a 04 rsx-s and the car has megan coilovers on it. The car doesnt ride the greatest , when we bought the car he said there not the entry level coilovers that there the next step up i believe the track series. Also the car hardly has any travel at all when i lift the car up with a jack it almost immediatly pulls the tire off the ground i say within a inch. I wasnt sure if this was on all rsxs or what and i can seem to get the adjustment dialed in to soften it up and the car isnt slammed i would say its lowered a inch and a half. any help would be great

I'd probably never buy a car with aftermarket suspension unless it was done properly. Megans are not the proper way to do it.

But since you already have it, first thing I'd do is scour clubrsx or our forsale/wanted thread and get a set of OEM shocks/springs and put those on. Sell the Megans and get a better setup that 1) has shock travel and moderate lowering and 2) has decent dampening.

However, having no travel when you jack the car up doesn't necessarily mean there is no shock travel when the car is on the ground.

An RSX with somewhat stiff springrates and poor shock valving will beat the **** out of you. That's just the nature of this chassis.

i already have the stock suspension that came with the car, and its not going back on the car. The suspension is listed at 1,100 dollars on most of the websites so i didnt think it was junk.

The Megan track coilovers are stiffer than the streets, hence the tire coming up with the car when you lift it. It's just that stiff. 1100 is probably msrp. New they go for around 800 or so and will go for about 600-650 used.

Megans are pretty good, not the best, but pretty good considering the spring rate and price.

They're junk, regardless of what the MSRP is. People who think Megans are good haven't driven on a quality DC5 suspension setup.
