timing help

Default timing help

Do you need that black plastic cover on your block to do your timing?because i cant seem to find mines when i was putting my motor together..how do you time it without the black cover on?please help me..thanks

If you're talking about the lower timing cover, i would advise not running without it. Without that cover everything is exposed and it's asking for something to be thrown in there which could destroy your motor if it hits the timing belt or gets caught in the crank gear.
