Do you trust your shift light?
For those of you just running a shift light or using any shift light i guess. I just installed my old shift light into my GSR and tested a 3k pill before finishing the install. Seemed to flash just slightly after 3k but the engine was also cold. The test was just to make sure the light still worked. I stuck in the 8k pill with the intention to shift at or just after 8k but ran the car on the fwy to do a test and it seemed to light up after 8k. On the 3rd or 4th test i hit the rev limiter just as i was shifting when the light went on.
Now i had read in the past that factory tachs are known to be off so im guessing this is probably it, yet the rev limiter goes off around when its supposed to. This presents a small issue though if im trying to rev a bit past 8k but it takes me right to the rev limiter as the light goes off. Following the guide on teamintegra, i chose the wire just in front of the firewall, in the engine bay. My previous set up in a civic was at the dizzy. Given that most tachs are off a few hundred rpms, should i just trust the shift light to be accurate? Or also test it a few more times to see if it lights up at the same point each time before trusting it?

Thats why i wanted a 7.8 and a 8k pill. 8k for when i really want to shift late as possible and 7.8 if i want to shift earlier. But its known that the factory tach is off so what im thinking is that if its off and my shift light is accurate, rev limiter or not, its flashing accurately at the time i want it to despite what i tach reading says.
