Okay, I work for a local speed shop and we put a "ZC" dohc 1.6 into a 91 crx si, it's all bolted in and wired up. The motor isn't a true zc though because it doesn't say zc anywhere on it. It's out of an 88 integra. now, the problem is as follows, the stock si tranny bolted up fine and we put a new stage 3 clutch in it with the Si flywheel. When we turn the key it just spins the starter, it's like it's not reaching the flywheel at all. Now, is there a different starter that maybe has a longer shaft to reach the flywheel or what do i need to do. I've tried a new starter and that's not it. Please help me out!!!!!!!!!!

 

You used the Si tranny but did you use the Si flywheel with a cluth to match. If you use the Si tranny, you should use a Si starter to match.

 

yes i used the si tranny, flywheel, and new clutch

 

i believe your problem would be the the starter solenoid. the solenoid lever/plunger is not kicking out the over-running clutch assembly to the starter to engage the flywheel, thats why you just hear it spinning. do you hear it making a clicking noise as well? change the starter and you you should be good

 

I tried another starter that i know works and it still didn't solve the problem. anyone?????
