hey, I'm new to this site and new to Honda. i bought myself a 91 civic dx 3 days ago without a engine, i was just wondering what kind of engine should i swap into it for a daily driver without spending too much money (800$ ish CAN). I found a local zc without trany with 120 000km on it for 300 would that be good to swap. thanks

any suggestion for anything else would be appreciated, thanks.

 

That's a pretty good price, you should be able to (hopefully) locate a tranny for around the same price or a little less locally at junkyards. My advice to you is to get a complete swap out of a DX unless you want to do a little wiring on your car. It is a DPFI (2 fuel injectors) and the distributor is a 5-wire. If you want to put the ZC in you'll need to upgrade your wiring to 4 injectors and a 7-wire distributor. If you are fairly confident about wiring, then I'd say go for it.
