Maybe someone can help me out. I'm having starting issues. Whenever I try to start my car it just clicks like the starter is broken. I've changed out my starter twice and still the same issue. When I push start the car, it starts just fine. When I put power straight to the starter, it will start up twice fine, but the problem will persist after that. I've also swapped the battery with a good one from my other car and still the same problem. I've been trying to figure this out for the last week and can't figure it out. If someone can help me out, that would be great.
well im still a newb at car but check ur fuse box to see if ur fuse for the ecu is the correct one...did u check ur alternator already?...look for any loose wiring.happen to my car once but my dad fixed it.he said it was a loose wiring but he didnt exactly tell me which one or where.

I've checked my battery wiring to make sure its on tight and also my tranny ground looks good. I've checked all my fuses and they're still good. I don't know what it could be.

So I tried jumping the starter with another car and it started up multiple times, but then I unhooked the jumper cables and put them back on and it didn't start. I then put the jumper cables on the battery and it started up a couple times and stopped working. This problem is annoying me. Anyone have any ideas?
wow the same thing happened to me yesterday. I checked all my fuses, wiring, changed battery, tried jump starting and it doesnt even crank, I have to push start it to make it run. and all I did was change a freakan header..

Yeah I know how you feel, it's real annoying. Today I changed out my battery and it started up twice then it clicked. I have no freakin clue whats going on. Is there any troubleshooters that can help us out?

man yours starts? mines just clicks.. the other thing is that when I turn the key to the on position I see dim lights on the check engine, oil pressure, and battery but I see bright lights on the brake and srs indicator lights.. maybe thats why its not getting enuff power to crank. does yours do the same?

Mine only starts twice, then it clicks. All my lights are fine. I thought I wasn't getting enough power to crank either, but I changed the battery with a brand new one with more cranking power and still the same thing.

get your alternator chek at the shop if your car does that, plus you said your lights dims so that means alternator.
if not check your distributor

I've checked my alternator by getting my car to start and pulling off the ground off my battery and the car still ran.

I was thinking this too. I'm just getting sick of buying all these random parts and not being it. I'll check the voltage on mine.

voltage? you won't be able to determine you ignition switch by voltage. You'll have to take apart you ignition and turn it over with like a flat head screw driver to see if it starts.

Yeah you're right, I can't check the voltage, but I can check the electrical continuity to see if its bad.

im gonna check my main relay today.. I believe its on the right hand dash for the civic ek?

I had the same problem, every time I would try to start all it would do is click.
My mechanic and I checked everything we could think of. He assumed some
wirering harness in the ignition under the dash went bad or something. We hooked
up a push start to by pass the harness and it starts up everytime now no problem.

interesting... man I took apart my whole underdash, checked the fuses, changed battery, jump started, cleaned the distributor cap, checked the wiring harness, check the indash harness.. replaced the main relay with another one.. Im gonna say its one of the relays. when I turn the key to the "on" position my indicator lights for: check engine, oil temp, and battery are really dim. but the E-brake light is reallly bright and thats on an almost brand new battery.

Update: So today I was checking the continuity on my ignition switch and everything checked out fine. I plugged everything back in and boom, the problem was fixed. I'm guessing that maybe the harness was loose or one of the connections was. I feel stupid that it was something that simple. Aye, at least its fixed.

what did you check? are u talking about the engine harness or the dash harness?? and what did you plugged back in? gimme in detail because I have the exact same problem as you

I was checking the two harness that come from the ignition switch. I unplugged them to check to make sure power is looping through the harness. After checking the harnesses, I plugged them back in. Thats all I did. There might have been something that wasn't contacting and by messing with them, it got fixed. I can't say this will help you, but you can give it a try.

was it loose in anyway? or was it unplugged?

I'm assuming it was loose. It was plugged in. That's probably why my car would start sometimes.

man.. I checked them and still doesnt work.. I tried unplugging and plugging back in too.. Heres what I found out:
when I try to start the car I hear a faint sound coming from the passenger side.. it sounds like electricity or something but dying out..
