Default Buddy Club Spec II

Mods, Sorry if this is the wrong forum. If so, please feel free to move.

I am considering this exhaust system for my EM2 with K20 swap. The car is a track ***** but also a daily driver. I have read all about how loud this exhaust is, and how it is unbearable for a daily, but is this with or without the silencer?

I can't imagine that it is that loud with the silencer? Does anyone have any comments on daily driving a Spec II with a silencer?

Thanks

Anybody even considering the Spec II just wants attention. They weren't held enough as a child or something...

Why not look at an exhaust that shows solid gains without making everyone deaf and pissed off? And why would you want to have it corked up most of the time losing most of the power gained in the first place?

I imagine a 3" straight pipe or open header would be louder. Not by much, though.

A straight through 2.5" exhaust wouldn't make good gains?

It would be "corked up" most of the time because:

I don't care about making good power on the street... only on the track. And on the track, I don't care about the noise level.

According to Buddy Club, all versions of the Spec II come with a silencer.

A lot of tracks have a noise restriction.

How about an e-cutout? That way, you can run a non-obnoxious exhaust without a cork in it and open the cutout for the track.

The 3 tracks that I currently run at do not have noise restrictions, and there are 2 more opening up that I will start running at... and I do not believe they will have restrictions either.

Regardless, I guess I am at a disadvantage in that I have never heard a Spec II... I'm starting to guess that it is far louder than I think it is.

Could you explain further about the e-cutout? I have never heard of this before?

Yeah, they do. If that first guy ever came ripping through my neighborhood, I would pull him out of the car and beat his face in.

Interesting... wouldn't this require two separate tunes to make it feasible?

In N/A form I reamml doubt it, and If I had a E cut out control it sure as heck would not be in the rear of the car but closest to the turbine/ collector, thats the whole point of them. Not for someone to see out the back of your car and say , WOW HE GOTS A CUTZ OUT YO!

No, just tune it while it is open since it will run a tad leaner than if it were closed.

It is definatley the loudest and raspiest exhaust i have ever heard in person on a car (eg civic hatch). It is too loud for a daily driver without the silencer in the exhaust. And with the silencer in the exhaust it sounds good although still louder than the average exhaust and ilegal in most places, but looks **** with the silencer in! You can't imagaine how loud it is until you hear it in person! You tube will not do it justice! I wouldn't have one on my car, but they are cool.

I've had my Buddy Club Spec II on my hatch for over a year now. It sounds great no matter what motor I've had in my car(LS, GSR, now LS/Vtec). With the silencer in it's fine to daily drive and isn't that loud. It's only loud when you get on it. And in my opinion it sounds great when you hit vtec. It's my favorite exhaust. It's not that bad on the highway either going 90mph at 5k. With the silencer out it is very loud. You can keep it quiet if you shift at 3k every gear but when you get on it you'll be heard from a couple miles away.

Better, more important question.....what do the gains look like with this exhaust? Any proven gains?

the fact that the piping is 60mm = 2.3in makes me wonder.

The small piping may be to create a little back pressure lost in having a wide open exhaust....I'm not certain

Any insight on this...Dyno's comments on the size of the piping...thanks
