hey I have a rebuilt stock gsr that I just put together for a teg and I was wondering what your thoughts would be on a clutch for road race and auto cross thats all this car does lmk thanks
Stock GSR? any company with a proven name is going to work. go with OEM, OE replacement, (stage one if you really want to upgrade) exedy, ACT, Clutchmaster.
Don't need anything fancy or crazy. I run an OE replacement Exedy on a SOHC Vtec making about 50hp more then stock with no issues. The soft pedal is nice to keep fatigue down.

Spec clutches are garbage. I've known of several that prematurely ended their life.
I also personally don't like OE clutches, or the equivalents. They work ok, but they feel like crap. I am however a rabid anti-ACT activist. That **** will mess up your car, and they don't do anything better than any other clutch. On the plus side, the pressure plate is stiff enough to charlie-horse your leg within 10 minutes of stop-and-go driving.

Exedy OE replacements are often just OEM parts. I just did the clutch for the S2000 with an exedy OE. The pressure plate, TOB, and Pilot bearing all came in Honda packaging, and part numbers, and logo. only the disk came in exedy specific packaging.

I've had Clutchmasters Stage 3 and now Exedy Cerametallic Stage 2. I also drove Sander's car with an OEM clutch. I would say the Stage 2 is the way to go. My Exedy is perfect in my opinion. I can launch hard for a standing start, but it's not so grabby that slight misses on rev matched downshifts jerks the car, which is very scary during braking. BTW, Exedy>ACT, just get the Exedy and you'll be happy

Finally someone else who knows Spec and ACT are garbage. I've grown up in the clutch business, the past 20 or so years anyway, and we have seen so many problems with both brands.
To the OP: I'm using a custom built clutch that is basically the equivalent of a Clutchmasters FX300 (Stage 3). Clutchmasters is a very good brand that uses quality components. Give them a try, you won't be sorry.
