Default Looking at a 03' Accord w/60k - Questions for previous Accord owners.

My current car is a 98' civic, prior to that I had an 96 civic. Both of these cars had the cv joints go out around 80k+ miles. Besides that they were both really great cars.

I am wondering if there are any previous Accord owners that have noticed similar problems with their accord, and if you can speak about your experience with a 2003 LX? I think 03' was the year they changed body styles, i'm not sure if that makes a difference in terms of reliability or not.

I'm looking at an 03' LX with 60k, any info you guys give me will be taken into account before i make a move on this car.

TIA for any replies.

No complaints here. I bought my 03 accord EX with 0.03 of a mile and now have over 86k on it now with no major problems. I did replace an O2 sensor last year but other than that its been trouble free. Just the regular wear and tear stuff like front and rear brake pads, tires, fluids ect.... I would go for it.

I have a 2003 Accord LX 4 CY with 110K miles. I have only had to replace an O2 sensor, the wiper motor, and a wiper control arm. There is a recall on the wiper motors now. It has been a great, dependable car.

I bought an Accord 2003 LX with 36k, its now at 61k. This car runs very well, but here are some things I've had to do for maintenance:

1) Routine tire maintenance @55k (check your treads, you might need to replace for about $300 for 4 fresh tires).
2) See if the car idles hard when the fan is on for either heat or A/C. Mine started to do this at 40k.
3) My brakes have needed service since 55k also. See if your do too before buying.

Best of luck! These are all routine things, with no serious problems.

Hey I saw your post about the 02 sensor on your 03 Accord. I have the same problem myself. I had the scan run by ACDelco (they do it for free so you buy the part there) and they said its a $180 part. Any advice on this? Without the 02 sensor, is performance affected? If this something that I could do, even though I'm not great with cars?

Thanks,

Doug

check sparkplugs.com for an O2 sensor. Depending on the O2 sensor, you can be severly killing your gas mileage. I don't know accords well because I own a 5th gen lude, but you should defn swap it out. Buy it at the website I mentioned, should only be about $45 or so.

BTW it can be a PIA to get it out sometimes, but it defn can be a DIY.
