I can has new motorsickle?
Hey everybody. I just got back yesterday from picking this beauty up from DC. I only out a few miles on it so far I haven't really gotten personal with it yet but what I do know is that it's mile above my 06 R6 was. This is my first Liter bike and it has me being extremely nevervous but I have a few years expirence and MSF/Gear/Insurance so I should make out alright.
Sorry about the ramblings here is a few pics. I have to get either flushmounts put back in the fairings or find block off plates. The turn signals are integrated into the running lights.

Pardon the one shitty picture. Ill get more later.

That's a good buy...
Please, if you're nervous on that thing... take it very slow. The capabilities of a liter over a 600 are very much a paradigm shift.

congrats
take some time to work on your throttle control and braking
youll be going a lot faster in general because you just wont realize it until you see the speedo so be able to control that as well as stop efficiently if you find yourself in over your head

That is a sick, sick looking bike but I really don't understand why anyone needs a 1000cc on the street. A 600 seems to exceed the speed limit in a matter of seconds by a ridiculous amount so I can't imagine what a 1000 can do.

I felt the same way but a 1000 has a lot more bottom end for around town than a 600. Even though both bikes are insanely overpowered for street use, people buy vipers and corvettes so why not.
I think a vtwin or a supermoto is perfect for the street. Not too much power but tons of bottom end.

Mainly to elude the police officers...if done correctly.
...Sometimes getting from point A to point B requires no limit.

Thanks for the words. I had an o6 R6 that I sold not to long ago and I don't know what made me go with an R1. I haul my G/f around alot and I felt the extra power was nice to have to get out of the way if need be. I also like it alot more because it seems like you don't have to rev the **** out of it to get going. The R1 is -2 in the front and I still haven't went full throttle yet. I don't think I've even went past 9k and it is more than enough so far. I do hope to make it to a track with it though so I can really ride it.

Do yourself a favor and get a stock size sprocket like yesterday. R1 = wheelie monster stock. -2 is just retarded. Also I'm more then willing to bet it doesn't have a speedo healer to correct for it so the miles and speedo on it will be way off.

1000cc on the street is fantastic. Power everywhere, never have to downshift to get out of the way of cars. Engine is smooth as silk, you dont have to be boy racer to go quickly. Its not like you're going 100% everywhere, liter bikes can do part throttle too!
Drive around a 1000 for awhile and then let us know how you feel.
