Default Rotton egg smell and a bit of sputtering action..

A buddy has a '91 si thats been converted to obd1 with a z6 in it. It was running fine after the conversion now about 2 weeks later on throttle in the low rpm's it will sputter a bit and also higher rpm and somewhat then on easing the throttle you can smell this horrible rotton egg??? I am stumped..
Has anyone had this and found a cure? Could it possibly be a bad charcol canister?
Any help appreciated..

Rotten egg smell is usually a clogged cat.

Also check the IACV screen for carbon build up, that usually accounts for 80 percent of idle problems.
