89 crx- "88' camaro" v6 engine swap?
hi i was wondering if there would be any way to swap the engine from an 88 chevy camaro v6 to an 89 crx because i have the camaro and it runs but the clutch is out of its and its either sell it or use it for a project so if anyone hase ne info id appreciate it.
just because i have nothing better to do and i have a lot of sentimental value with the camaro so i dont really want to get rid of it on top of that i havent heard of neone doing that so it'd be pretty cool
It won't be easy, like if you have to ask you can't.
That motor is pure junk I had a 6er I bought as a project, it wasn't worth money the scrap yard gave me.
Keep the camaro, put in something nice same with the honda

ive seen a clip on youtube with a blown bigblock in a crx so it is possible...IMO it goes against the unspoken rule of domestic engines in imports...it just souldnt happen...i think your better off looking for a camaro shell and drop it in that

Clutch isn't that difficult on that Camaro. If you don't wanna loose the Camaro, Put a Small block V8 in that car with a hot cam, carb, gear it to 4.10 and it'll scream for less money and work than putting a V6 in a Civic. Make the Civic your fuel economy car and the camaro your project. Chevy's aren't that expensive. Or just replace the damn clutch in your Camaro!!!

I agree 100%, except I cant say how hard the clutch is to do.
This reminds me of a guy that works at my highschool as an aid, has an IROC Z motor in his miata. He is really good at welding, and has money to blow on custom driveshafts and stuff too...makes it easier.

i agree that would be a disgrace to imports lol if you dont want to spend much money but want to drop something in the rex go with a mini me swap or ls. Easy and low cost if you find the right deals.

LS1 +RX7 = needs to be drug out in the street and shot
thats like puting a 350 in a datsun 280z
if you have an old import repair it don't basturdize it
and if the rx-7 is an fd ......they need a grenade up their a$$$

LOl this reminds of the 3rd fast and the furious movie (Unfortunatley I've seen this movie) when they put the Nissan motor in the 68 Mustang. Funny. With a welder, anythings possible.
to make it rear wheel drive its possible but, your gonna need to make a frame, i have a friend with a road course rex and he has a b18c5 and a crash gear transmission, rear wheel drive and its a beast 275-300hp if not more all motor to the rear wheels has itbs and a bunch of other **** but he had to make a whole frame for it and attach it to the existing car its COMPLICATED.. so think wisely if your bored and have money throw an s2000 swap and call it a day.... have fun!
@ beige89civic...nothing is possible with a welder, anything is possible with skill. sure its been done before, but at the op. either fix your camero, or find a new shell and build the hell out of the motor. if you want to put it in an import find a datsun or a miata, much easier. why the hell would you even attempt to make a fwd car rwd if you have no idea what your doing. i hope your daddys rich...
oh...and redb16coupe, do you have pics of your "friends" car...i i would love to see what the hell your taking about.

Hey Groundzero. I hope you don't think I created this post. My "daddy" Isn't rich his disabled from severe heart complications. And if you can weld you probably have some skill. Don't have to get all technical on a nowhere thread. Calm down
