Default Changing brakepads -- Is bleeding necessary?

Quick ? - I'd like to change my own brakepads.. but the one thing I'm uncertain of is whether bleeding the brakes is necessary or not? As long as the lines stay attached should there be any concern over air getting in there?

thanks in advance!

its not necessary since your not opening up the brake system/lines.. but I do my brake bleed about once a year to get all the old fluid and crap out.. so IMO you might as well.. but its not absolutely necessary since your not opening up the system..

I didn't bleed my lines when I changed pads. But my friend always does cause he says when push the pistons back in, air can get pulled into the lines. I guess you can bleed them to be safe, but I didn't think it was absolutely necessary.
