Default reving idle?

i dont know if this is normal but this has never happen to anyother car i have been in. if i dont let my engine warm up and i take it out of park (it is an AT)(and yes i know this is bad, i only do this to get the car out of my driveway so someone can leave), well if i put it into drive or rev. the rpms drop to 700-800 and if i put it back into park it will rev up then idle rev up then idle over and over. it goes from 1250 to 2000 or so and then to 1250 and it doesnt stop. but if turn the car off and then back on it wont do it. Any one have an idea cuz i sure dont lol. Thanks in advance

if that doesnt work also try replacing the fitv, thats the Fast Idle Throttle Valve, also do a search on that problem and there are a few threads that have alot of info about that.

Thank you for not being a moron.

If I was a mod I'd give you 1%

I'm not even lying. Somehow people completely ignore the FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS and just ask them anywys.

I like the first response. First replace a part. Then check for a vacuum leak. Nice.

tell me, how would this kid know to check the FAQ about the IACV and or FITV without knowing that they probable causes of his idle issues? did he ever ask what they were or how to check/fix/replace them... nope. i assume once he was told they were probable causes, he then went to the FAQ thread to see if he could find a DIY on it, or searched.

however Adam, you could have searched "irratic idle" and probably came up with tons of old threads in various forums that would have pointed you to check for vacuum leaks, or to check the IACV.

From my personal experience, The rev idle only happens when you are in nuetral. and If that is true, then the TPS sensor is not functioning correctly. Anytime you are In gear, the idle is normal, correct?????

Simple, since you're trying to look like a douche

1) Search for "idle" or "rev" or "erratic (not irratic) idle" or "jumping idle" and you'll get about 5000 threads about going to the IACV/FITV cleaning thread, I know for a fact I've responded to at least 50 of them personally.

2) In the IACV thread itself it states what it can solve (after searching and finding related threads)

3) The whole FAQ is a repository for well, FREQUENTLY occurring issues/problems/etc.

So nice try butter cup

wow.... you tried to make a whole P0W3DDDDD Y0000!!!!! response because I misspelled one word... and you try making one of YOUR points of your response the exact same thing I told him he should've done, which indeed would have led him to look in the FAQ for IACV etc (again you stated the exact same thing I had already said).... and thanks for being redundant letting us all know you're smart enough to know that FAQ (frequently asked questions) was for FREQUENTLY asked questions.. wow, can't believe you figured that one out all on your own. and so confident too to make it one of your bullets! I'm proud... people in this world can be taught!

so nice try on trying to reword what I said to look like a tough guy... or maybe not a tough guy... but some other type of guy eh there.... "butter cup"?

Not really at all I think you've misinterpreted it completely, but if that's what gets you going (attempting to look cool) then have at it.

Why don't you hop back to your Civic forum chief.

As I have mentioned........."YOu may have a bad TPS sensor. The Reving goes up and down and it is so Fking Annoying. Try to find a Throttle body from someone you know that willing to let U use try it.

Or as mentioned in the thread, rather than go through all that trouble clean the FITV/IACV/TB which is a proven fix (for most) and see if that fixes it.

its only erratic when you shift it out of park,to drive position then shift it back to park. but if you leave it in park, to warm up, it wont idle like that. check the iac valve then. if you dont have an automatic accord, then you don't know whats up.only happens in an automatic

Whether it is only an automatic thing or not... Im sure the car didn't do that when it was new... which means if it is doing it now, there is a cause, whatever it may be. "just let the car warm up first" isn't a fix, it is an avoidance tactic.
