I just purchased a spare d15b6 that has lived a little bit of a rough life. Its from a 88 Crx Hf. I was able to purchase the entire swap (motor, tranny, ecu, wiring)
I just cleaned the 88 intake manifold and was planning to install it in my 91 HF but then I got to thinking that maybe there are slight differences I'm not aware of. Everything appears the same.
In the future if/when my motor goes (its a little over 300k, but no smoke and no leaks), i will throw the 88 in until I can fully rebuild. I hope that day does not come any time soon but if there are any parts i should be aware of that are not compatible it would be greatly appreciated.
Things i'm curious about are if the Fuel Injectors the same? compression ratio? intake/exhaust ports same diameter?
thanks again,
Shane

Make sure you use the tranny that came with the 88 engine. The number of splines on the 88 tranny is different than the number on the 89-91s, as a result you can only use 88 engines with 88 trannys and visa versa.

sorry should have posted that i'm already aware of the different spline count.
thanks for pointing that out though.

That is incorrect!
You can use any 88-91 transmission as long as you use a flywheel/clutch that corresponds with the transmission. IE you could bolt up a 91 Si transmission to a 88 HF engine as long as you use a 90-91 clutch/flywheel.
I believe all the HF's are the same; I've never heard anything about them being different(all D15B6).
