1990 accord shutting off/ not starting some times
My sister in law has a 1990 accord. I just replaced fuel pump a couple monthes ago and it is working. The car will start and run about half the time, other times it will turn over but not start, and some times when it starts it will run for awhile and then shut down. I bought the ignition module today for it, but was wanting to get a little advice before installing. Is this the problem? Could there be another issue, coil, relay etc. How can i test these items. Thanks for your advice. Dean
When the engine shuts off or will not start you should check the Black-yellow wire at the distributor to be sure the ignition switch is putting thru power.
As well, you could remove the steering column shrouds and visually check the back of the ignition switch for overheated/melted solder joints.
The electrical portion of the ignition switch is sold by itself.
