Default Stock Wiring for License Plate Light - Where did it go? Assistance Requested!

The car I am working on has a Wings West aftermarket bumper cover.

The little license plate light on the side (there is a light screwed in, to the left of the plate area) has two cut wires coming from it. The light works when I hook it up to a battery directly (red and black wires).

Looking under the car, I could not find the stock wiring location. The rear bumper (actual bumper) is rusted pretty badly though . Where can I wire this guy up? Need to pass inspection.

[For grins, I ran a wire all the way to the battery because I couldn't get into the trunk (didn't find a hole I could easily get through). It worked. So then I used a vampire tap on the passenger low beam (red and black wires, I chose the red wire), and it DIDN'T light when I turned on the lights! I am also grounding the light on the crappy metal mesh of the bumper cover, but that works fine when hooked up to the battery]
