3k feels like a pre-vtec
hey everyone.. i just bought this car and when im going.. right around 3k rpms it feels almost like a vtec kicks in but i know vtec doesnt kick in until around 5k rpm.. what could this be? i know it cant be good.. i was thinking maybe my air filter is really dirty or something? any input is appreciated.. dont thrash me.. im still a noob.
If your feeling it around 3k your OK. The F22B1 is not a high revving DOHC. The VTEC can be initiated after 2300 if the conditions are met.
VTEC conditions are as follows:
RMP = 2300 ~ 3200
Vehicle Speed = 6.2mph (10 km/h) or faster
Engine Coolant Temperature = 50°F (10°C) or higher
Engine Load: Judged by the Map sensor

hmmm.. interesting.. cause i kind of feel it like lagging before 3k big time.. i mean, at 5.5k, i hear and feel the vtec.. at 3k, i hear nothing. thanks..
you cant feel vtec, your feeling the low power band, and its vtec only for fuel effiency, your not going to feel the "5 hp" increase when vtec engaged at the right condition.
correct me if im wrong but is the f22b1 vtec? which f22 isnt vtec?

Yes the B1 is VTEC
F22A* SOHC = Non VTEC
F22B1 SOHC = VTEC
F22B2 SOHC = Non VTEC
F22Z2 SOHC = VTEC (EDM Accord 2.2i)
F22B DOHC = Non VTEC (JDM Prelude Si)
