Color of smoke? Probably just condensation.

-Get a compression test/leakdown done..

-Blue smoke is usually an indication of burning oil from what i understand whether it is under acceleration or startup...(Def on acceleration...)

Under acceleration if you see blue smoke it is most likely pistons rings, but if you just start up it is probably your valves..

Edit, just found this link by searching:

Schister gives very good advice..

Valve stem seals are bad as a possibility if only at startup.

your lucky its just valve stem seals, replacing them with the head off is pretty easy but with the head on the motor it takes some skill's.
