vtec solenoid ?

i have a older b16 head with the bigger vtec solenoid and was wondering if a d16z6 vtec solenoid will fit
and witch is better the older vtec solenoid or the newer smaller vtec solenoid

i read on here a while ago some one said they put a d sereis solenoid on a b series but if you look at the two there not the same at all.

i just looked up part numbers and a d16z6 is the same as a gsr and type r but i do not know if it will fit the older b16
