Default lack of power 1.6

i have a 97 civic ex with a 1.6 non vtec. wen i hit the gas is has no power at all. i have check the fuel presure,spark,wires,cap and rotor all is great. when i hit the gas and spay carb cleaner in the throtlle body it runs great.

maybe map sensor?

any help would be great!

if its an EX it should be Vtec, did it just start doing this? is it showing an CELs? and if you spray carb cleaner in anything it'll run great, its very combustible stuff.

well the engine came out of an 00 lx that is non vtec.....


the old engine was a vetc

when you swapped the engine did you swap the ecu as well?

You should swap it out for a P2E, its the correct ecu for the engine. Asking questions isn't dumb, not asking questions and guessing when someone could give you an answer is dumb in my opinion, trial and error and figuring things out on your own are good too

i lol'd. This reminds me of the VW forums, except with them, it was always "slam it."

Too bad VWs are so unreliable. I miss that underpowere pos sometimes......

Haha, I just had to make a comment about the carborator cleaner. Its like, guys seem to believe if they have simple green, brake cleaner or carb cleaner with a couple of zip ties anything is fixable I sat outside for four hours last summer and scrubbed all the **** off of a valve cover in simple green. I won't got near that crap again!
