Rough idle, engine dies under load
I just had to replace the engine in my 1999 Accord 2.3L 5sp engine code F23A1 (w/o ULEV) due to excessive oil consumption. (Bad rings seem to be the culprit.) The swap is complete and the car will start, but idle is somewhat low and rough. When throttle is applied the engine dies. If the throttle is feathered, the engine will rev, but the vehicle is not drivable. Another symptom is that when holding the throttle steady, the engine will fluctuate from about 1000 - 2500 rpm in a rhythmic pattern. The swap was performed by me and a friend who is very competent mechanically. The timing is spot on and was checked by a professional mechanic. We have also checked for vacuum leaks and have not found any. Any help that anyone could provide would be much appreciated! Thanks!
I need some help please. I have a 1997 honda civic that is pulling when I have the ac on. I bought a new compressor and it did not work. I am wondering if it could be the idle speed sensor. Any advise would be nice.
Sounds like your running lean.
I've ran my Accord hella fkn lean before and that's exactly how it reacted. Now, that's not to say "Same Symptoms = Same problem" cause that's the case like 50% of the time. However, if you have your motor tuned yet, you should try richining it up a bit and see how she runs.

Word cotton!
Soooo, I'm gonna have to go with fuel ratio on this one bro. Check to make sure that your car isn't running to lean or too rich. That could most deffinitly be a colpret (spelling?)

Hey I was wondering if you figured this out too? if so. email me at t.tran19@gmail.com I'm having the exact same problem. Only mine also makes this grind noise when starting and you can feel it in the clutch. the funny thing is it was working better before i fix the ignition timing. now it just stalls everytime i put a load. I would like to know what you did so i can head toward that direction. Thanks!
Make sure you don't have the Throttle Position Sensor connector switched with the Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor. The connectors are the same, they will reach and won't set a DTC. The voltage values are acceptable enough for the ECM to not set a code but make the car run like crap.
