Default Motor in a 98 civic EX

Ive got a 98 civic EX 2dr coupe. this might be a stupid question but what motor do i have?.. im pretty sure all EX have Vtec but i wanted to make sure.. i know its a 1.6L but not much else. also whats a good price for some new spark plug wires.. mine are stock and i should probably get some new ones.

Thanks,
Nick

Correct, D16Y8...the most notorious series for spun bearings. Instead for new wires (unless you have issues with the OEM ones) might I recommend an oil pressure gauge or shimming the pump for more psi.

NGK wires should run you about $50-60.

It has vtec, when i first got mine i wasn't sure either only because I've seen so many older model ex that says Vtec on the valve cover.

If it's the original motor, then yes it's a d16y8 w/VTEC. I have a spare VTEC valve cover if you'd like for me to ship it to you.
