Default Why are so many of you against Escrow services?

I have contacted several people that have items for sale on this board & all want my money so they are protected but none were willing to use http://www.escrow.com for the transaction. My question is whats wrong with this picture if you are not misrepesenting youself then you have no worries either.

I agree! Send what you say your selling and you'll get the money for the item sold. There's just too many shiesty people and too many bad experiences for Escrow not to be used.

you must remember preferences, people like to go through PayPal and do $orders, WU, ect.,! Time is a big factor as well! Its similar to COD People want/need $ asap Escrow doesnt offer that! All though if you are a patient person Escrow is SAFE! There's are probibly many more reason comming from both Buyer and Seller! Its just harder on the seller I think...my opinion

Of course these unscrupulous people want to use money orders, and PayPal........These methods are as secure as sending cash. I must say that I have been fairly lucky (Knock on wood) so far, but I have had a couple of bad experiences. I think that if you don't know the person and they won't use an escrow service, then to me, the next safest thing is COD. You can still get screwed by COD (b/c you can't open the package until you've paid for it), but at least they have to send you something.

escrow is very safe but it takes to damn long.. for both the seller and the buyer.. if i didnt care about when i recieved the product or the cash i would use it.. but time is of essence and escrow takes to much of it..

If you use credit card through pay pal you have 60 days to dispute the charge. There is 2 months safety margin. Just a thought.

Yea you can dipute the charge if something is wrong but then you may have to deal with the cc company & you still have to find the right part after that. If you used an escrow service then only a dummy would send you bad parts.

There are 2 kinds of people who don't usually want to deal w/ Escrow:

1) Shady people who are just out to scam others
2) People who need money quickly

I bought something through Escrow, & I loved it. Seller actually preferred that I used it. (That alone might of signified that he was honest guy.)

Process of Escrow is lengthy for both buyer & seller because there are checks built into system to prevent fraud. COD is lengthy only for seller. Shipping company makes no attempt to send money to seller in timely manner. It took over 1 month for me to get my money. When I called to check on its status, no one had any idea where it was.

PS: If you offer to pay Escrow fees, there should be no reason for seller to accept it as form of payment.

Escrow is really good, but the seller does have to wait for some time before receiving the payment.

I'll add one more...

People who have gotten stuck with shipping charges. I'm not one of them, but I've heard of people shipping items out using escrow and the buyer refusing shipment for no good reason. At that point, the seller is stuck with the shipping charges.

Many purchases that are made are impulse buys. If you give someone a chance to think about it for a couple days then they might change their mind. Anyway, I agree with you.. I would love to see more sellers accept escrow. In the long run, we'd all be much better off if we just made it the standard way of doing business.

Personally, if I want to use escrow and the buyer won't... I'll just walk. Remember, getting screwed over just one time negates any and all money you've saved by buying used.

Can seller get stuck w/ shipping charges if they use Escrow? Do that have something built in that will prevent this sort of thing from happening?
