Here is an original thread with a question that many may benefit from:
What are some ways to keep cool in a car that does not have air conditioning? Since most on this forum are keen on the idea of milking every bit of performance out of their rides, I know that many of you have yanked your AC. How do you stay cool
A list of common ideas:
- Tint
- Windows Down (obvious)
- Electric fans
- Ice in the vents (desperation)
- Shed clothing (done this on the way home from work a few times)
I would be willing to do anything short of hanging out with this guy:

What do you guys do? Come on, H-T! Tennessee summers are killing me, and I need your help!

Park in the shade. Drink plenty of water. Drive fast with the windows down. Use a sun shield for your windshield, visors on the sides. Don't wear heavy clothing. I just did Columbus to Cleveland and back in 90 degrees in my black CRX (maybe that's not very hot compared to TN but) I hardly felt th heat.

Shade is not an option in the parking lot at work. I teach high school and have a designated parking spot. I drive home everyday at 3pm - worst heat of the day. I wear a tie and slacks every day too.
My hatch is also black, so I feel your pain there. But yeah, different kind of heat in TN compared to northern Ohio, bigtime.

When I drove through the desert in on the way to Las Vegas from Seattle, I kept a ton of gold bond powder and got a bag of ice or 2 and put it layed out on the floor by the floor vents. Worked well. Windows up because it was 118 Degrees, the air was like a damn hair dryer.

That reminds me of my days in Iraq when it was 120 + out. Friggin' blowdryer is exactly what it felt like.

It's funny. The kids that know what it is, those that are into Hondas, really like it. I go to a very rural high school though, so it doesn't get the attention it would if it were a lifted 4x4.
Then again, when you teach teenagers you don't really want to draw a lot of attention to your vehicle. (for obvious reasons)

Don't have cup holders, but I drive barefoot (helps with the heat too), so I use my shoes as cupholders. Works pretty good, but if you have smelly feet (I don't), it can get pretty rank.
Wet your hair (if you have any, I can't, or I gel allover [mohawk]).
You can also get window reflector things for the hatch window, the sides, and the windsheild. Before you drive, open all the door and windows, and the hatch, and it helps too.

This thread has made me laugh like 5 times....I just keep picturing ppl trying all these different techniques and how funny they would look.
Basically it comes down to that if your DD doesnt have AC and you live in a state that the temp gets above 90-95 everyday. Then it would prob be smart to get a AC installed. Each year the summers are going to just keep getting hotter and hotter...might as well spend the money now and save your self from dying over later!
OBTW...

LOL at some of these replies. Some good ideas, though. That igloo cooler AC conversion is tight, as is the idea to paint the roof white. It almost looks white with all the oxidized paint and all.
Harm: It looks like that is what it boils down to: AC is the only real option if you want any semblance of comfort on a hot drive. I don't know if it's worth the $$$ though versus just getting another vehicle and using the EF as a weekender/toy.
...and LOL @ cupholder shoes!

I just added ac to my car...sort of a pain...but feels so much better but robs power from the car. I have a gutted out rear and it helps alot. I drove around 2years without ac and hate it. I'd say do it if you can find a set up for cheap.

Same idea, just much more expensive...

Supposed to work really well, I read a review of one the other day...

This thread is funny as all hell. I've been thinking about the same thing recently....considering I heard something hissing out from underneath my dash when I have my AC on . Now it doesn't get as cold anymore.
Yeah, I'm going to fix it.
1. This one idea will only work if the car is moving. I was thinking about running some kind of dryer hose, but not a cheesy so the air from the outside can run directly into the cabin like have the hose facing your face. It would lay near the side mirror and follow the door panel and have it shooting up at you. Kinda hard to explain but I have been thinking about it.
2. My other alternative is buying this which I'm seriously thinking about doing, because of the major swap *** I get. I even found a new one on craigslist for cheap so I probably going to grab it. It appears like it will work I just wonder how long though. http://nocord.com/summerseatbl.html
*I know I need to fix my AC*

That is why all the school buses have the white painted roof, having it that way has reduced the inside temperature of a school bus drastically.
