all 1992-2000 5speed trannys are one and the same as far as size goes, and will bolt up without a problem. The EX tranny is shorter than the LX is, and you will notice a satisfying difference in gearing ratios between shifts.

mike the op is talking about auto tranny's not manual, you must have been tried. The auto tranny i believe will bolt in, but you might need a ex ecu for the gearing to be the same, I hope someone with auto exp can help you.

So far as i know there is no difference between the automatic EG D-series trannys. Manuals yes there is in terms of gear ratios, but i believe the automatics are the same across the board.

they have differant part numbers and show differant in every exchange computer iv seen...so i know there is a differance...im pretty sure the vtec auto trannies would have a differant final drive or at least differant gearing.

I'm not gonna say your wrong, but i think they're the same, they definately have the same final drive, 4.33 across the board, thats straight out of the '94 civic sedan brochure. they might have differnt gearing, but where the final drive is the same i doubt it.

If you have access to a Helms manual, peer into the first 30 pages and I'll give you the ratios for the different transmissions. I can only guess you'll probably need an EX auto ecu...but that's not for sure.

GL!

Ok, i finally did a little digging around, checked mitchell, both trannys are stamped M24A actually all EG automatic trannys are M24A, so as far as i can tell there is no difference, as i said earlier the final drive is very definately 4.33 across the board.
