Default Caliper Clearance

I just purchased some used ITR calipers to put back on my ITR (used to have the spoon calipers and sold the first set of stock calipers), and when I put them on, the mounting bracket/stationary part of the caliper that bolts to the hub (obviously don't know the exact name for it) is right up against the rotor. When I torque the bolts I can't even rotate the rotor....

So, question is... has anyone else ever run into this problem before? I checked rotor thickness and that is within spec, and I know I'm installing the calipers properly. I was thinking about putting a small washer between the caliper and the hub, but I'm not sure that would be the safest thing. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

what is the number on the bracket? it will be 23T, 25T or 28T

the obvious reason is that your brackets to not fit your rotors.

you can get the same diameter rotor in different thicknesses. you probably have a 23T bracket with a 25mm rotor or a 25T bracket with a 28mm rotor.

the cheaper solution is probably just to get new 23mm rotors.

I dont think the bracket is off an ITR or Legend....might be off a Prelude. You should be able to use some spacers to make it clear

i mean i guess a 2mm thick STEEL washer (if there is even such a thing available) would probably do the trick, but i'm not sure if i'd want to do that on my car. whatever you put on there will be subject to a lot of HEAT and PRESSURE.

first thing you need to do is get the number stamp off the bracket

23T is an ITR bracket, but you probably have 25mm thick rotors. just get a set of new rotors

Just use a washer between the bracket and spindle. It's what i did for a customer who had prelude calipers on a ITR. Worked perfect
Good luck
