Default b16 dyno seems low

jdm b16
drag manifold
gsr cams
type r IM
57 trim 63 ar
3'' dp
2 1/2 exhaust
dsm 450 cc injectors
street tuned on crome at 10 psi

for some reason my power drops off up top, was thinking at first maybe my clutch but dont think it would slip the exact same 3 times in a row. My afr looked to stay in the high 11's and boost was steady at 10 psi.

From looking at your set-up it seems fine to me!

The torque for a honda is calculated differently than that of a ford or chevy??

That's the only thing I see right off the bat. Without being more intimately involved with your setup it is very difficult to know.

Why are you concerned about the clutch? What clutch do you have??

exedy stage 1 have never had a reason to worry just first thing I could think of. Also the exhaust came to mind so had a 3 in made today.

I have the same clutch......it seems to hold 325whp, but I don't know if its just a lucky clutch or if I haven't noticed the slip yet........another clutch might be what you need (I should get one as well), but that 2 1/2" exhaust will cause you some restriction.

ya so far the clutch has felt good but I guess I'll see, going to get it dyno tuned this time and see what happens. We stopped at 10psi because of the injectors but at only 250 hp think I can turn it up some more.

I would upgrade the clutch now if I were you. It would suck to redo the exhaust to 3in, make the dyno appointment and then have the clutch start slipping causing you to end your dyno session early.

247whp @ 10lbs on a street tune through a 2 1/2" exhaust with a stock B16a 57 trim isn't what I would consider low

I really doubt it's the exhaust. 2.5" with open dump can flow more than enough for 300whp on even a stock b16.

thats good to know was thinking I had a problem guess I was expecting to get close to 300hp at 12 psi and when I only got 250 at 10 was thinking the worst. Spent 400 on a new exhaust today so dont know If ill have time or money before the retune for a clutch just have to hope it holds.

considering the size of your exhaust and your turbo manifold thats about normal...

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Bailhatch &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I really doubt it's the exhaust. 2.5" with open dump can flow more than enough for 300whp on even a stock b16.
</TD></TR></TABLE>

just cause you can MAKE 300whp on a 2.5" does not mean you wont have a power increase with 3", I'm sure with enough boost you can make 400whp on a 2.5"... see where I'm going with this?

Stock block w/rods/pistons 9.1

Stock head sans gsr cams/valve springs.

Eddy IM stock TB.

Precision cooler.

3" no cat with resonator/muffler.

i agree. looks about right for that combination of parts.'

with some changes no doubt you could pick up some power without running more boost. did you tune for ignition at all on the dyno?

I don't think he is referring to an open dp but rather the dump tube from his wg.

I think the op was wondering why he hasn't reached the magical 300whp that the t3/t04e's seem to make @ 10 psi (with the typical setup). His exhaust is of course the most obvious area needing improvement to hit that number.

Mike is right as well........was ignition tuned??

I was expecting along with my tuner to be closer to 270 or 280 hp, the car was street tuned and yes the ignition was tuned the week before, but nothing was changed on the dyno. The day after the dyno first thing I did was get a 3" exhaust thinking that may be the problem and it does feel better anyway. So in a week or two will be back on the dyno for a retune and try to get close to 300hp. I guess my question is if thats normal power what would be the best way to get close to 300hp out of my setup other than the exhaust or should I just keep turning up the boost?

Out to your shop to build a 4" exhaust for yourself?

Give your tuner some time on the dyno. Turn up the boost if need be. Not every motor, setup, car, etc is going to make 300whp @ 10lbs. I wouldnt worry too much
